Landscaper

A landscaper is responsible for creating and maintaining outdoor spaces to enhance their aesthetic appeal and functionality. Essential functions and responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

1. Installation and Construction:
   – Prepare sites for landscaping by clearing debris and grading.
   – Plant trees, shrubs, and flowers.  Install sod, rocks/pavers, mulch, and retainer walls according to design specifications.
2. Maintenance and Care:
   – Perform regular maintenance tasks, including mowing, trimming, fertilizing, pruning.
   – Monitor the health of trees, turf, and plants.
3. Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
   – Operate a variety of landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, and tractors.
   – Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
4. Safety and Compliance:
   – Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate protective gear.
   – Ensure compliance with local environmental regulations, zoning, and OSHA laws.
5. Customer Service:
   – Communicate effectively with clients to provide updates and address any concerns.
   – Offer recommendations to management for improvements and enhancements to outdoor spaces.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience: Previous experience in landscaping, horticulture, or related fields is required.
• Knowledge: Understanding of different plant species, soil types, and landscape principles.
• Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physical labor, lift 50 to 100 lbs., and work in various weather conditions.
• Attention to Detail: Strong eye for detail to ensure high-quality workmanship.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to discuss alternative problem-solving and is open to new ideas and ways of doing things.
• Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.  Accepts feedback and ideas from team members and supervisor and is constructive when giving feedback and ideas to others.
• Professionalism: Act in a professional manner and maintains appropriate boundaries with customers and team members.
• Reports to work, meetings, training, and job-related activities prepared and as scheduled.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned or required.
